Generalstreik 1918
Daniel von Aarburg, Hansjörg Zumstein, Switzerland, 2018o
At the end of the First World War, Switzerland is shaken by a nationwide general strike. Over 250,000 workers demand better living conditions. The Federal Council fears a violent revolution like in Russia and mobilises the army. Switzerland is on the brink of civil war. After only three days the workers capitulate, but the consequences of the conflict are far-reaching. This "docu fiction" examines the causes and background of the conflict, including reenactment scenes.
