For about ten years now, the Dutch-born artist, musicologist, art historian, experimental filmmaker and barefoot film professor Fred van der Kooij has been conducting five autumnal explorations of aspects and key figures of seventh art at the Zurich Filmpodium. Mixing analysis, bonmots and audacious theses, he uses numerous examples to rattle the documentary film, also known as "non-fiction", to its fictional parts: from the reenactment of historical events and accidents in the primeval age of cinema to docudramas and mockumentaries to the controversial theses films of Michael Moore.
