PARK Jung-bum, South Korea, 2019o
Young Yea-eun is afraid of the sea which took her parents away. Left alone on the island, she is taken in and abused by the village people. Then a policeman gets to the island and to the bottom of the affair.
Park Jung-bum’s third feature film moves ahead like a thriller where the anticipated crime doesn’t take place, but rather unravels in the poisonous atmosphere of a small coastal town. Desires and beliefs, greed and secrets come to the surface of the promised genre film. What is the crime then, if not the one committed against this kind of cinema’s dark and gracious realism by each character’s attempt to pervert reality?
