L’apprendistato
Davide Maldi, Italy, 2019o
In a prestigious hotel school, Luca learns the art of service. How much of his own freedom and adolescence must the young man give up to work at serving customers?
Continuing his exploration of the commercialization of adolescence, in the austere setting of a hotel school, Davide Maldi recreates an army of misfits in the style of For Love and Gold (1966), led by a young rebel on a collision course with a system that prepares servants and masters. Unflinchingly amusing, a fine example of cinema of the real that both deflates and breathes new life into iconic Italian models.
