Adam Rehmeier, USA, 2020o
PUNK ANARCHIST ROMANCE | A rocker on the run goes on an unexpexted road trip through the American Midwest with a young woman who is a fan of his band. A gem of a comedy with a mind-blowing soundtrack.

The film
Simon, a bad-tempered punk, finds refuge with the eccentric Patty after committing arson. It just so happens that Patty has a deep fascination for the band Simon is the anonymous leader of. Although their personalities couldn’t be further apart, this fateful encounter will turn them into an unlikely couple, united by their non-conformity and love for music. A cutting, violent rom com that reminds us of the importance of staying punk.
DINNER IN AMERICA makes the most of the opposition between Simon’s antisocial cynicism and Patty’s innocent and touching awkwardness. The dynamic works first and foremost thanks to the incredible performance of Kyle Gallner and Emily Skeggs, but also because of the mind-blowing original soundtrack. The director masterfully balances cruelty and tenderness, as well as destruction and creation. The result is hilarious and never melodramatic.
The director
THE BUNNY GAME, Adam Rehmeier’s first feature film released in 2011 after a decade of working as a DP, editor, and documentary filmmaker in Hollywood already showed signs of his DIY approach to filmmaking. It was shown in over 40 festivals worldwide. Rehmeier is currently working on the HEARTLAND miniseries. He is also preparing his next feature, SAVE A BULLET FOR ME, which he wrote himself.
