One night, a group of workers realizes that the administration of their factory is planning to steal all the heavy machinery. They quickly understand that this is the first sign of a massive layoff. To avert the closing of the factory, the workers decide to occupy their workplace. When, to their great surprise, the administration suddenly vanishes, they’re left alone in a half-empty factory. As the world around them collapses, they are gripped by strange new desires.
Als sich die Chefs einer portugiesischen Aufzugsfirma aus dem Staub macht, besetzen die Arbeiter die Fabrik. Während sie sich sorgen, wie sie ihre Familien ernähren werden, will sie ein Filmemacher als Vorreiter einer gerechteren Arbeitswelt inszenieren. Der eigentliche Regisseur des Films, Pedro Pinho, packt viele Ideen in sein Dreistundenwerk: Milieustudie, Diskursfilm, Sozialdrama mit Musicaleinlage - es soll alles zugleich sein und bleibt doch eine zähe Angelegenheit mit einer Vielzahl Figuren, die nie recht Kontur gewinnen.
