Michel is on his way to Paris in a stolen car. Because he exceeded the speed limit at a construction site, two policemen on motorcycles chase him and stop him. A policeman recognizes him and confronts him - and is shot by Michel in cold blood. Fleeing from the law, he hides out with Patricia, a newspaper saleswoman who wants to become a journalist.
