Die Cyborgs haben uns mittlerweile so einiges voraus, zumindest in Alita: Battle Angel. Hauptsächlich in Sachen Empathie. Die Verfilmung des Scifi-Klassikers von James Cameron und Robert Rodriguez ist über seine zwei Stunden sehenswert - auch wenn das Setting der kriegsgebeutelten dystopischen Zukunft nicht neu ist, so ist es visuell spannend umgesetzt. Vorallem Rosa Salazar reißt die Nummer als eigensinnige, verletzliche und großherzige, nun, Kampfmaschine. Wer hat je behauptet, es käme auf die Größe an.

Regisseur Robert Rodriguez inszeniert diese 200 Millionen Dollar teure Zukunftsmär, produziert von James Cameron, als actionmässigen Overkill mit kurzen emotionalen Verschnaufpausen. Dem Film fehlt das, woraus die Heldin am Anfang besteht - Herz und Hirn. Dass die geflickte Alita fast vollständig computeranimiert ist, macht die Sache auch nicht besser.

Frédéric StraussUn peu convenu dans son écriture, Alita nous emporte grâce à son foisonnement narratif et visuel, sa réalisation dynamique et son univers hybride qui rappelle la BD cyberpunk autant que Rollerball, Valérian ou Dark City.
