Addis Ababa, 1989. The Ethiopian civil war is raging. Military junta leader Mengistu forces all young men into the army. Eli hides in a fig tree, very close to his girlfriend, the 16-year-old Mina. Together with her brother she has to flee to Israel. But Mina does not want to leave Eli.
