La Paloma y el Lobo
Carlos Lenin, Mexico, 2019o
Displaced by the violence that swept their town, Paloma and Lobo survive trying to love each other. Through thirst, fear and nostalgia, Paloma wishes to go back home but Lobo lives tied to a memory that stops him from returning.
The spellbinding formal confidence of Carlos Lenin’s first feature film should not distract from the fact that it is, first and foremost, a film about love. That is to say, it is an agitated, dark and bitter film, glacial in tone and pace, burning with an inner fire and wrapped in a sweetness that the darkness, violence and fear simultaneously threaten and watch enviously.
