Fi al-thawra
Maya Khoury, Syria, Sweden, 2018o
A woman wants to see the transformative Syrian revolution, beyond the media images. She follows a group of young revolutionaries who work for democracy with the help of language, cameras and weapons. She films from 2011 to 2017 to try to see the revolution that's taking hold and transforming human bodies, to the point where they exceed political, religious or ethnic differences.
Beyond being the journal of a country at war, During Revolution follows a group of political activists enamored with ideals. Their faith in the country’s ability to renew itself quickly clashes with different generational and religious dilemmas, which will gradually turn into conflicts. Through the fate of its characters over the years, the film delivers a profound political meditation on the difficulty of uniting a nation.
