Cody - The Dog Days Are Over

A young Swiss family adopts a Romanian street dog named Cody and quickly forms a tight connection with him. While tracing the course of Cody's life, the family discovers the particulars of his existence in Romania. There, Cody lived a life of freedom, but also of danger, with Blanche, another dog, always by his side. Now, travelling back to his homeland, Cody comes face to face with his past - and with his former companion.
Der an sich ehrenwerte Ansatz, die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Tier zu hinterfragen, bleibt eine Alibi-Übung. Stattdessen wird zwischen Cody und Blanche eine vermenschlichte Romanze konstruiert, die zu tierrechtlichen Debatten nichts beiträgt. Die im Film aufgeworfene Frage, ob es blödsinnig sei, so über Tiere nachzudenken, hätte man sich lauter stellen sollen.
