Elmer Prettywillie, the owner of a drugstore, gets into all kinds of trouble. A woman looking for a stamp makes him lose sleep and sets off a fire alarm, but the fire only breaks out once the fire brigade has left. A dodgy real estate agent who falls for Elmer's "counter attraction" Marilyn wins him over for a shady deal that takes him to Florida and almost to ruin.
