The Flowers of War tells of the brutal Japanese invasion of the city of Nanjing in 1937. An American mortician was ordered to bury the killed priest of Winchester Cathedral. But he soon passes himself off as a priest in order to save the remaining teenage Catholic schoolgirls and a group of prostitutes who had also fled to the church from rape and certain death.
