In the Heat of the Night
Norman Jewison, USA, 1967o
Virgil Tibbs, a black Philadelphia policeman, is mistaken for the murderer of a white industrialist while passing through a small Southern town. When his innocence is proven, he begins to work on solving the case - in involuntary cooperation with the narrow-minded, racist sheriff, who hinders rather than advances the investigation. In an atmosphere of hatred and prejudice, the two take on the battle against time to uncover the terrible truth.
