Swiss director Sandra Gysi and her Egyptian colleague Ahmed Abdel Mohsen have made a documentary film together about the main train stations of Zurich and Cairo. The comparative filming highlights similarities and differences: here the heat and the calmness of the passengers in Cairo, here the air conditioning and the timetable of Zurich, where people get upset about a delay of three minutes. In episodes, the film condenses into a collective poem about passages and passers-by and the global magic of the great main stations.
Ein reizvoller und klug gebauter Dokumentarfilm, der zwei Schauplätze ergründet: Abwechselnd sind wir im HB von Zürich und von Kairo und erleben Bahnhöfe als Orte der Arbeit und der Begegnung, des Abenteuers und der Sehnsüchte, aber auch als Refugium von Randständigen. Die Gegenüberstellung der Kulturen lädt dazu ein, sowohl markante Unterschiede als auch unerwartete Ähnlichkeiten aufzuspüren. In poetischen Episoden verdichtet sich alles zu einem kollektiven Rhythmus des Daseins. Ein Muss für alle Bahnliebhaberinnen und solche, die es werden wollen.
