Richie Bravo, once a celebrated pop star, is chasing his faded fame in wintry Rimini. Lost between permanent intoxication, concerts in front of bus tourists and gigolo services for old groupies, he sees his world collapse when suddenly his adult daughter breaks into his life. She wants money from him that he doesn't have.
Seidl remains Seidl: he gleefully savours all the depths of human existence, every social mendacity, every weakness of his sleazy protagonist until he almost becomes likeable because of so much naked honesty. Larger arcs to Ricci's Nazi grandfather or to the refugee crisis, which also loiters on the streets of Rimini, do not quite succeed. Nevertheless, the film has so many highly embarrassing moments that no Seidl fan should miss it.
Till BrockmannRimini, en comparaison, est d’une grande douceur. On n’ira pas jusqu’à parler de feelgood movie, mais à l’échelle des films de Seidl, il a quelque chose de généreux dans la possibilité d’ascension qu’il offre à son héros et à tous ceux qui l’entourent.
