L'amour du monde
Jenna Hasse, Switzerland, 2023o
When teenager Margaux bonds with seven year old Juliette and a local fisherman, her summer holidays turn upside down. An unusual friendship, where Margaux experiences tenderness and play and discovers a new way to understand herself.
L'amour du monde is the adaptation of the novel of the same name by Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz and the first feature film by Jenna Hasse, who confirms the talent already evident in her short film En août. At a distance of almost ten years, we meet again the actress of that first film, the young Clarisse Moussa, whose detached manner in dealing with her fellow world seems as if she were just there by chance. The director sensitively recreates the suspended time of summer and adolescence somewhere on Lake Geneva, in a film that is as Vaudois as the works of Ramuz and Godard. Valentina Provini, who is responsible for the beautiful photography of the film, faces the same circumstances that the great novelist and the great director already found. One leaves the cinema with the rare feeling of having experienced a piece of beauty of the world.
