An inexplicable cosmic event transports Oak Street from its suburban idyll to a place inhabited by dinosaurs. Faced with this unfamiliar environment, the members of the Platt family quickly realise that they can only survive if they stick together.

South Africa, 1968. Apartheid is the law of the land. Khuthala, a talented young musician, wants nothing to do with his family’s laundry business. He dreams of jazz, of a life shaped by music, not by soap and steam. But when the apartheid government begins cracking down on Black-owned businesses, and Khuthala’s father is arrested and beaten, his dream begins to shatter. To save his father, Khuthala makes an impossible decision.

Through a tapestry of improvised scenes, archive footage, interviews and texts, this film traces the key stages in the life of the Austrian writer Ingeborg Bachmann – from her childhood during the war in Carinthia, through her rise to prominence as a star of the Gruppe 47, to her final days in Rome. Her journey is marked by Bachmann’s complex relationships with Paul Celan, Hans Werner Henze and Max Frisch, and her lifelong struggle to develop her own radical language.

Paris, at the beginning of the 20th century. The sought-after painter Antoine Balestro is convinced that he is to blame for his wife’s death and gives up painting. He attempts to make contact with the deceased through a medium and, in doing so, encounters a fairground performer who is a convincing fraud. When Antoine’s gallery owner discovers the deception, he hires her to reinforce his lucrative artist’s delusion that he is in supernatural contact with his wife.
