Dancing Beethoven

The world-famous Béjart Ballet Lausanne dances Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. For nine months, the film follows the equally sweaty and passionate rehearsals up to the triumphant performance of the work of art. We watch dancers, choreographers, musicians from all over the world united at work and listen to their explanations of Beethoven's composition, which celebrates the eternal cycle of life and the joy of existence.
Zum zweiten Mal begleitet die spanische Regisseurin Arantxa Aguirre das Béjart Ballett aus Lausanne; diesmal reist die Kompanie nach Japan, wo sie mit dem Tokyo Ballett Maurice Béjarts Choreografie zu Beethovens Neunter Symphonie einstudiert. Die Dokumentation ist Béjart-Porträt, Probenbericht und etwas schmalziger Appell zur Völkerfreundschaft.
