Gosford Park
Robert Altman, Germany, UK, USA, 2001o
An illustrious company has gathered at the rural estate of Gosford Park. Those present have accepted an invitation from Sir William McCordle, who is as wealthy as he is headstrong, and his wife Lady Sylvia. Meanwhile, the numerous servants, including the strict housekeeper Mrs. Wilson, the arrogant butler Henry Denton and the mysterious Robert Parks, live in a kind of parallel world. Behind the scenes, the servants and maids see through many of the intrigues of the nobility, but maintain similar hierarchies among themselves as their aristocratic employers: a class society within a class society. Thus a feudal weekend of the English upper class takes its course, until a dramatic incident snaps those present out of their complacent lethargy.
