The life of the Swiss photographer Hannes Schmid is one big adventure story. He photographed rock stars such as Mick Jagger and Freddy Mercury, created the Marlboro Man and legendary fashion shots as well as large reports about peaceful indigenous people and cannibals, skied and raced, saw every corner of the world... When his own photographs of the misery of children in the streets of Phnom Penh couldn't let him go, he finally set out on his most ambitious project: the Smiling Gecko Foundation, which is setting up an exemplary agricultural village in Cambodia with houses and schools for destitute farming families.
