Corrado Rinaldi specialises in international missions against illegal immigration and is about to return to Libya. In Tripoli, he is expected by his colleagues with whom he will visit a reception centre for asylum seekers. The conditions under which refugees are rescued and the discovery of a hidden body confirm what officials have already suspected: The managers of these shelters clearly have secret agreements with smugglers. Corrado, in his attempt to act, will meet the resistance of the tribal power, then again in Italy, the resistance of local politics. Above all, he must face his own conscience when he tries to help a young Somali woman whom he met in the Libyan centre.
