Die aus Dornröschen eher flüchtig bekannte böse Fee Maleficent (bestechend düster und zugleich mütterlich-warm: Angelina Jolie) darf im neuen Disney-Fantasy-Film zum zweiten Mal ihre eigene Geschichte spinnen: In Maleficent 2 von Joachim Rønning poltert sie erst gegen die bevorstehende Hochzeit ihrer Ziehtochter, legt sich dann mit deren intriganter Schwiegermutter an und soll zuletzt noch kurz die Welt retten. Nach zwei Stunden aufgeblasenem CGI-Spektakel um eine Horde unbeseelter Fabelwesen reibt man sich die Augen und stellt fest: manche Märchen bleiben besser unerzählt.
