Three young women in Cairo are preparing for their wedding: an actress who hopes to escape the watchful eyes of her family, a Christian woman from privileged circles who wants to use contraception in her marriage and a traditional Muslim woman who develops a deep yearning for equality. By accompanying the three of them, the film creates a vivid and dense portrait of contemporary Egyptian society and its youth, torn between still-forceful traditions and the equally forceful desire for freedom.
A non-judgemental exploration of the contradictions that plague Egpytian society as it wavers between the past and the present. [..] What is particularly striking is the determination shown by each and every character to express their feelings, doubts and fears as they search for a level of approval which is nonetheless so difficult to obtain.Giorgia Del Don
