"I like to watch" is written above the entrance to the sex cinema where Christine starts working. From her booth, she watches the visitors and gradually develops a fascination for the porn films, which she initially watches furtively. Christine enjoys telling her boyfriend every detail of the plots of the sex films, which increasingly alienates him. When a well-heeled client invites Christine to a baseball game, but abruptly leaves her sitting in the box, she begins to follow him through New York at night.
