Abbas Kiarostami, Iran, 1990o
In 1989, a film-crazy unemployed man was arrested in Tehran, who had posed to a family as the well-known film director Mohsen Makhmalbaf and had been rehearsing for an alleged new film in their house. After learning about this case from the newspaper, Kiarostami was able to convince the fake Makhmalbaf, the real Makhmalbaf, and numerous other people involved to reenact the events, including the trial that had just begun, for his camera.
