Nice Time
Claude Goretta, Alain Tanner, UK, 1957o
Alain Tanner and Claude Goretta made their first film without a script. It shows the hustle and bustle in and around Piccadilly Circus, a center of London's leisure world in the 1950s. The footage, shot over twenty weekends, was assembled into an impressionistic form that does without commentary and relies primarily on the visual appeal of the hustle and bustle of people and the illuminated advertisements. From many small observations, the imaginary portrait of a Saturday evening in the big city emerges.
