Patricia Highsmith était l'un des auteurs les plus brillants du 20e siècle. Avec son roman "Carol" paru en 1952, Highsmith, lesbienne, a écrit l'histoire de la littérature en décrivant une relation amoureuse entre deux femmes. Eva Vitija s'appuie sur les journaux et les carnets de Highsmith, retrouvés à titre posthume dans sa maison tessinoise, utilise des documents d'archives, interviewe d'anciennes amies et la famille de Highsmith et en tire un documentaire passionnant sur la relation de Highsmith à l'amour et son influence sur son œuvre. La magnifique adaptation cinématographique de Carol par Todd Haynes est d'ailleurs disponible chez nous en streaming.
