Nasreen dreams of becoming a singer. But in Iran, it is forbidden for women to sing in public. While she struggles with her identity as a mother and housewife in an arranged marriage, she fills the apartment with her beautiful singing. Her husband Mohammed, very attached to tradition, is less than enthusiastic about Nasreen's ambitions and increasingly distances himself from the family.
