The Vaudois couple Gisèle and Ernest Ansorge are among the great pioneers of Swiss animated film. After starting out with animated puppets, the two found their very own technique with the animation of predominantly black and white quartz sand, which Gisèle arranged on glass plates to create masterful, constantly changing images. From 1957 to 1991, Gisèle as animator and Ernest as cameraman, editor and producer created a good twenty atmospheric fables and other fantastic stories with characters in constant metamorphosis. The Cinémathèque Suisse has restored the internationally renowned and multi-award-winning pair's life's work; the Solothurn Film Festival's classics and re-release initiative, filmo, has made a representative selection. Immerse yourself and be amazed!
