r Far From Home
Kristi Tethong, Canada, India, 2025o
A father’s fading memories and the echoes of a free Tibet lie at the heart of this intimate family story, documented over a period of 20 years. When the Dalai Lama fled across the Himalayas in 1959 to escape the Chinese occupation, thousands of Tibetans followed him to India. More than six decades later, as TC Tethong, the Dalai Lama’s former deputy, begins to lose his memory, remarkable family archives resurface. They tell the story of the hopeful love story between TC and Judy, a young Canadian volunteer who had chosen to build a life alongside Tibetans in exile.
