Spielbergs grösstes Problem ist das Pathos. In diesem Film kommt er mit einem Minimum aus, obwohl die Botschaft überklar ist: Journalismus bleibt wichtig. «The Post» ist dem Regisseur grossartig gelungen. Das hat mit seinem erzählerischen Können zu tun, seinem Gespür für Dramatik, den klugen, auch sehr humorvollen Dialogen -- und dem exzellenten Ensemble, aus dem, wie so oft, Meryl Streep herausragt (die für die Rolle eine Oscarnomination erhielt)

Wann ist Verraten Verrat, wann grenzt den Mund halten an unterlassene Hilfeleistung? Es steckt viel Nostalgie fürs Zeitungshandwerk in diesem Film - und eine ganz kämpferische Geste in Richtung Zukunft.
