Tehran 1978: Marjane is eight years old, thinks a lot about the future and dreams of saving the world as a prophetess. Surrounded by her open, educated parents and her beloved grandmother, she enthusiastically experiences the events before the revolution, which later lead to the fall of the Shah regime. The establishment of the Islamic Republic marked the beginning of the era of the "Revolution Commissioners", who controlled clothing and behaviour. Marjane must now wear a veil, but this does not stop her thoughts and actions, which are as playful as they are rebellious...
