Suspiria

JAW-BREAKING REMAKE | Berlin, 1977. A young American dancer joins a prestigious German school. She soon finds herself tiptoeing around the director’s demands and the murder of a former student.
The film
In this ambitious reimagining of Dario Argento’s cult classic, young dancer Susie Bannion moves to West Berlin to join a prestigious school. She does not yet suspect that obscure forces are pulling strings and that she herself will be sorely tested. Take a kinetic dive into a nightmare made of flesh, blood, and sweat, punctuated by dizzying dance choreographies, against the backdrop of the “German Autumn”.
More than just a remake, SUSPIRIA is the opportunity for Luca Guadagnino (CALL ME BY YOUR NAME) to swap Argento’s euro-trash pop and baroque approach with Fassbinder’s rigour and austere beauty. Dance now becomes an essential part of the film and takes the shape of expressive and deliciously macabre choreographies. A testament to the flawless craftsmanship that went into making it, SUSPIRIA is a spellbinding experience that contains captivating and moving dance sequences.
The director
Italian director Luca Guadagnino has seen his popularity soar with the conclusion of his “trilogy of desire”, which includes the romance IO SONO L’AMORE, the erotic thriller A BIGGER SPLASH, and the adaptation of the best-selling novel CALL ME BY YOUR NAME. He has also worked as a producer and documentary filmmaker. His series WE ARE WHO WE ARE will be shown on HBO soon. Guadagnino is currently gearing up for his remake of fan-favourite gangster story SCARFACE.
