After his last film flops, producer Max Barber urgently needs money to pay his debts to gangsters. During the shooting of his next film, he therefore wants to kill the main actor and use the insurance money to pay off his debts. However, he has not reckoned with the fact that his star, the washed-up former Western actor Duke Montana, just can't be killed.
