Berlin, 1921. The eccentric director Friedrich Murnau begins work on his vampire film "Nosferatu". Since it is important to him to make the film as realistic as possible, he travels to original locations for the shoot and hires a strange actor named Max Schreck for the title role. Due to his strange behavior, Schreck soon gives the other actors and staff the impression that he is a real vampire.
