Domingos Xavier, now an Angolan national hero, is arrested and abducted one morning. His young wife Maria sets out on a long search for him. From one secret address to another, she meets determined people and learns how far the resistance has already organized itself. On the day Domingos dies from the serious injuries inflicted on him by his torturers, she arrives at the door of his prison. He had refused to name a Portuguese man who had been involved in the liberation of black people.
