The Upper Valais village of Bratsch has just 100 inhabitants. After the school has been merged with the neighbouring village of Gampel, an inspired teacher founds a primary and secondary school in the empty school building, where people do not learn from books but from tangible projects, so that what they learn is immediately useful in life. The Bernese documentarist Norbert Wiedmer accompanied the reform pedagogical project for five years and recorded not only the fascinating attempt to anchor the overhead primary school back on the ground of everyday reality, but also the blossoming of children into courageous young adults when they are accompanied by equally courageous teachers.
